Not really a tutorial, but I have pictures. I had a mishap with a fretboard a couple of months ago and needed to do an epoxy fill to fix a dent. I didnt have any lampblack so I had an idea to grab an old toner from work the next day and emptied some out into a small container. The toner I used said it was micro fine ceramic toner (kyocera brand), im sure any toner would work. It is so fine that you have to pour it out super slow or it will just turn into dust and make a crazy mess. It mixes awesome with the epoxy. You only have to use a tiny amount and it makes a very consistant black. The last picture shows something else that is unusual. When I had some of the black epoxy left over I covered a bunch of rare earth magnets and stuck them to the walls in my shop to stick misc tools to. I noticed that the epoxy was not dripping and was creeping around to the other side of the magnet. The toner has magnetic properties. I really don't know why since it is ceramic. Could be used to make the epoxy creep into deeper spots. |
